Dr Bala and Joan on Seven News

Dr Chandra Bala will be on Channel Seven news tonight talking about a new implantable lens that could see an end to age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Dr Bala was interviewed at personalEYES’ Parramatta clinic and the news crew filmed his patient, 83 year-old Joan Brennan playing bowls.

Before her procedure, Joan’s vision was so bad, due to AMD and cataracts, she could no longer read or see the buttons on a lift.

After the lens implants her eyesight has improved dramatically – she can read large print again, she can take the bus on her own and she can see the jack when she plays lawn bowls.
