Laser or LASIK eye surgery is a life changing procedure. Glasses and contact lenses can interfere with your day-to-day life, work, leisure or sporting activities. With Laser/LASIK vision correction, you can throw away those bothersome glasses and lenses forever.
personalEYES provides laser eye surgery in many locations, including Sydney CBD, Canberra, Newcastle, Mudgee, Dubbo, and other areas.
Why Choose LASIK?
More than 10 million patients worldwide have chosen LASIK because it is painless, quick and the results are permanent results. LASIK eye surgery is designed to correct common vision conditions such as myopia (short-sightedness), astigmatism and hyperopia (far-sightedness).
What Is It?
LASIK is the most common type of laser eye surgery and it works by reshaping the cornea using a laser. It involves the surgeon using a blade called a microkeratome to cut a thin ‘hinged’ flap in the cornea. The flap is then peeled back to enable the laser to reshape the cornea. This allows the cornea to focus on the retina without the need for glasses or contact lenses. The flap is then repositioned; promoting faster healing.
With personalEYES custom LASIK surgery, new wavefront technology allows us to treat your refractive error and also adjust for subtle imperfections and scattered light errors that are unique to your eyes. This means that we can provide you with the with the best quality vision.
Am I suitable for LASIK?
Each pair of eyes is unique and LASIK isn’t suitable for everyone. Several factors are used to assess your suitability for treatment, these include:
- your age (usually over 20 to 40/45)
- your lifestyle needs, e.g. work, sport or hobbies
- stable vision for up to 24 months
- vision correction and astigmatism inside acceptable ranges
- healthy eyes (free of any eye disease)
- good general health (it is also preferable that you are not pregnant)
Your eyes will need to be examined thoroughly to determine your suitability and to enable an accurate assessment of the correct procedure for your eyes. We have locations for LASIK eye surgery in Sydney CBD, Canberra, Newcastle, Mudgee, Dubbo, and other locations in NSW.
What if I’m not suitable for LASIK
If you are not suitable for LASIK, there are many other excellent options available which our doctors will discuss with you at your assessment, e.g.
From 45-50 onwards our eyes naturally age and we find the need for reading glasses increases—this is called presbyopia. If this is the situation we will consider alternative options to ensure the best possible vision is maintained for both reading and distance.
