We are one of the most experienced corrective eye surgery groups in Australasia. We have many years of clinical experience correcting the vision of thousands of patients using a variety of techniques, successfully performing tens of thousands of vision correcting procedures.
We have the widest range of vision correction options available in Australia; safe, painless and proven treatments, performed by some of Australia's most experienced surgeons. Because we aren't limited by the procedures we are able to perform this means we can offer you the best solution for your eyes.
There are a wide range of treatments available today and choosing the right one for your eyes will ensure the best visual outcome for you and your lifestyle needs. These include:
The KAMRA inlay is an opaque circular micro-disc with a small opening (1.6 mm) in the centre. It is much smaller than a contact lens and lighter than a grain of salt—the actual size is just 3.8 mm in diameter!
The KAMRA Inlay is a device implanted in the eye to treat presbyopia or reduce the need to wear reading glasses.
The KAMRA Inlay utilises a principle similar to photography called depth of focus. The benefit of this technology is a broader range of clarity of focus—near, far and in between.
Presbyopia is corrected by a very gentle all-laser process which accurately adjusts the central shape of the cornea, the front of the eye, to bring near objects into focus. Taking only 20 seconds to perform, the INTRACOR procedure is a fast, gentle and effective laser treatment.
SUPRACOR is an additional LASIK-based procedure and is suitable for treating a wide range of presbyopic patients. The treatment involves creating a thin flap on the surface of the eye and the surgeon uses the excimer laser to accurately reshape the cornea and treat the presbyopia.
SUPRACOR may also be suitable for patients who have previously undergone a LASIK procedure.
Monovision is often a great option for people over 40 considering laser vision correction. One eye is treated to give sharp distance vision, and the other has a smaller treatment (or sometimes no treatment at all) and remains focused for near tasks.
Because the dominant eye is treated for distance vision, the brain is easily able to compensate for the two different levels of correction.
IOL Intraocular Lens
The intraocular lens is an artificial lens. It is a transparent plastic disc with a similar shape to a natural lens. They are made of silicone, acrylic or PMMA, but other materials are under development.
Most IOLs are fixed monofocal lenses matched to distance vision. However, other types are available, such as bifocal or multi focal IOLs which provide focused vision at far and reading distance, and adaptive IOLs which provide the patient with limited visual accommodation.
