The addition of Lucentis to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme in 2007 has been wonderful news for sufferers of wet Age Related Macular Degeneration. Lucentis treatment has a very high chance of stabilizing vision, which earlier treatments often did not achieve. Our Retinal Specialists, Dr Jennings, Dr Sandbach and Dr Tsanaktsidis have successfully treated many patients with Lucentis. Dr Jennings was an Investigator in the ANCHOR clinical trial that showed how effective Lucentis treatment is.

 

If you are over 50 it is important to have your macula checked for signs of Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD). Anyone who has ARMD and notices changes in their vision, such as straight lines looking wavy, or blurring, needs to make an urgent appointment. Lucentis treatment is most effective when given early.
